Which distribution kit to take and how to install it?

Given: IBM ThinkPad 701c
8 meters of memory and 720 screws
Of the ports, only infrared
MS DOS of the sixth version is installed
According to the specification, this machine should have a semi-axle, but I have never crossed paths with them at all.
There is a desire to put Linux. I use debian myself, so it's better.
The task is to choose a suitable distribution and install it on a third-party computer. on the laptop stupidly there is nothing to boot from.
Any ideas are welcome.

Puppy should pull if installed on a screw and not loaded from memory, from the lungs it has the most sane set of software and community.

DSL linux and slitaz come to mind, but I only drove them in virtual machines
Install I think you need to remove the screw and install the docking station via usb-pata.

Debian will not get up, even the oldest one. Google it. In the very first request, Google gave me how to put slack on it. Go ahead.

I advise you to try SliTAz www.slitaz.org/ru
If not necessarily Linux, then you can KolibriOS kolibrios.org/ru/index
