Which archive to choose to collect a lot of small files?
DD.
I make backups of my PC to external hard drives, sometimes there are a lot of small files, with simple copying there are errors that the file paths are too long, I started collecting everything into uncompressed archives, which greatly accelerated copying, but I ran into another problem: I wanted to such archives add / delete files so that the archive behaves like a simple folder, instead of this it seems to rebuild the entire archive again = (.
Question: how can I organize an archive folder so that I can quickly edit (add, delete, rename).
Or maybe something else advise to solve my problem (a bunch of small files with long names)
thanks.

Why don't you like backup systems? From the free Veeam Backup or Cobian Backup. I fell out of love with the bike after I started using these copy solutions.
"Do you want checkers or go"? :)
I don't know the real solutions, but I can give you an idea to use something that would connect the archive as a folder or disk, like "True Crypt".
They write about possible ones here: superuser.com/questions/367540/tool-to-mount-a-zip...
