Where to start learning circuit engineering?

A very long time ago (in the class of 5-6) I went to a circle where we soldered different things. In class 10-11, all sorts of transistors in physics took place at school. But any book on circuitry seems complicated to me (more precisely, as if pages 100 of the beginning are missing). In general, tell me which book to start with. Now I can make the final board according to the schematic diagram with all the details (draw, etch, solder), but I can’t set it up, I don’t understand the principles of how everything works (but I want to) ...

If memory serves, then this book once introduced me to radio engineering. After her, there was practically no misunderstanding with any books.

In fact, I've read it almost a dozen times :)
