Where to start?

I have good knowledge of HTML/CSS.
JS - basics. PHP - Intermediate.
PHP - know a little less than a year. I want to switch to a more complex and promising language.
There was a choice between JAVA and C++. Can experienced people give advice on where to start?

Well, since you know the basics of JS - why not JS? It is quite promising and "complex".
