Where to move from the presentation designer?

Introductory. I work in a state corporation not in IT at all. It so happened that in addition to business duties, he began to engage in visualization and rendering of presentations. Completely self-taught, slowly mastering Illustrator + Photoshop. I do both reporting presentations for internal use, and speeches for tops at conferences. At some point, I began to make it visually cooler and technically more difficult (according to the authorities) than the invited profile agencies did (for quite a lot of money).
I understand that I'm not a professional designer and can't draw from scratch, but am armed only with a sense of style, modest Illustrator skills and tons of vector mockups on the Internet. And yet, the final product is no worse than professional ones (and I reviewed the sea of internal pres).
Essence.I would like to master some related specialization professionally and find clients/freelance. Well, at least $1000 could be earned.
1. I look towards Interface Design . Looks similar to what I'm doing now. Might be worth exploring this area?
2. How popular is presentation design on Upwork?
Maybe you will advise something else ...
Clarification. I can study and practice only remotely, in addition to my main activity.

If you have a penchant for analytics, you can look in the direction of infographics, a rather popular direction. And given its quality, even in top publications, the field there is unplowed. And so I agree with the previous comment - part-time will not work.

Wrong approach to the problem.
$1,000 from scratch on freelance design is impossible.
1000 dollars to a person who wants to do this just a little bit and only for money is impossible.
Interface design (websites, applications) is a rather complex and voluminous science, and, moreover, very subjective. The code is a little easier - for the client, the code either works or it doesn't. And in the design there is an incredible amount of taste. You can consider the current layout the best in your practice, and the client will tell you "my son draws better than that, goodbye." Therefore, without the desire to become number one, without love for your work, you have nothing to do in this industry.
Try freelancing presentations. There are usually much fewer contradictions with them, you don’t need to understand how the web and mobile work, but just work with slides. Now there are quite a few performers in this market. You can even assemble a landing page with examples and send direct traffic to it.
Ah, well, yes
And according to my mother, I am the most talented boy on the planet. Forget this nonsense. You can't be better than someone without experience. A typical junior misconception.

На Дизайне не заработаешь. Начни заниматься разработкой допустим сайтов/приложений. А там уже можно и подизайнить в удовольствие, а 1000$ будешь получать за код.
