This is a very interesting topic. If you are seriously going to do this, I advise you to look towards the Military Medical Academy and the Department of Functional Prosthetics. I assure you: there are a lot of good designers / programmers / electronics engineers in our country, but there are very few people who understand how the body interacts with at least a cosmetic prosthesis.
