Where do you start if you want to make a game like Botanicula?

At the initial level I understand C ++, a little C #. I would like to learn programming creatively and at the same time learn the basics of creating games. For a long time I was looking for video courses, lessons on creating light games, quest-like games from Amanita. I understand that everything is based on Flash, but I'm not at all friendly with Flash ... And according to Unity, only platformers in videos and the narration rests on what needs to be done, and not on general knowledge of the engine. I would like help with the pipeline, links to courses (if the video, then in Russian - alas, I don’t understand English by ear at all) or to text lessons.
There is so much information that I'm already starting to drown in it and grab one or the other and doubt the choice of an engine or tools. :( Thanks in advance for your help!

Flash is dead. You don't need to be friends with a corpse. Otherwise, you need to know C ++ at an intermediate level. For such a game, you can even write your own engine on your knee (in this case, learn OpenGL) In principle, there is nothing complicated there with proper knowledge of programming
