I can not understand where and at what step I did something wrong. Now, when the site creates a file, it creates it without permission, that is, not me as a user (without sudo), nor he himself can do anything with it. OS Ubuntu, LEMP stack
I've never had any problems before. I tried to add a user to the group, but it's useless. I guess I just don't know about something.
How can I check where I messed up with the rights?

The http server usually runs as a www-data user and the www-data group, I can't say for sure the umask. With the same uid / gid and creates files. You can add your user to www-data group, then you will be able to read files with g+r bit in permissions.
