Where can you grow from a content manager?

Hello. I was offered a job as a content manager. Parents say that this is complete bullshit (to put it mildly) and it is better to look for something more adequate and useful. Do you think this work is promising? Is it in demand? It seems to me that this is partly in my specialty ("Information systems and technologies"). I just have no idea who to go to work. And the most important question: where can you grow from a content manager ?

where can you grow from a content manager?

You can become a marketing manager, you can become a media director, you can even become a mayor, or you can stop at a public editor for shkolota, a copywriter, or even get drunk and work as a non-ferrous metal. And where you will grow up, only God knows.

Parents say it's bullshit
there are "content managers" with a salary of 5k, and there are with 150k. Grow up - plan the work of these "content managers".

It's better to work with someone than not work at all. But if there is a choice, then it would be better not to be a content manager.

Hmm, my boss did not know such intricate words. He worked as a journalist, then as chief editor, then became the director of a gaming company, 4 times in regional elections, now he is building bridges.
In general, how lucky.

Hello. Even in the extreme case, when your work comes down to "here's a Word file for you, put the news on the site" will have a number of advantages:
- you will gain work experience,
- pump up responsibility,
- learn how the company works,
- learn what CMS (systems content management),
- how site management works in a large company.
I don’t know what kind of company that offers a vacancy and how the processes are arranged there. Perhaps not all directions will be available in your version. From a content manager, with due curiosity and diligence, you can grow into a
Web Analyst:business (management / marketing department, etc.) sets tasks for the site, you form technical specifications, check the fulfillment of tasks by the IT department, present the result to the business. And there are many levels here: a line employee, a project manager, a qa-specialist...
Copywriter: instead of a finished text, you are given the task of writing a text for the site. It can be the collection of information on the Internet, or a description of the processes in the company, or much more. Further growth towards the editor.
Web developer* depending on the tools you have to work with, you can get acquainted with HTML code and CSS styles, or learn how to assemble ready-made pages using web designers, which will later give you the opportunity to create websites or give you an impetus to learning programming .
Internet Marketer:you will be responsible not so much for the content of the page as for its conversion, this includes setting up advertising campaigns and working with content and a little bit of copywriting.
