The diploma requires a complete mathematical description of the algorithm used. With SURF, everything is transparent, I found it, there is a lot of information. With Viola Jones, things turned out to be worse, although it is much more often implemented and used.
If it's in Russian, then it's great. The original article from 2001 contains three and a half formulas and many statements that I cannot write without proof.
