Where can a developer find live communication if he works remotely?

Question for developers working remotely.
Where do you find live communication with like-minded people? How are your communications with the team going?
How do you develop professionally?

If this is office work, everything is very clear about prof. development, career and pumping skills.
You work in the same team for a while, work on a certain product, your hard / soft skills also grow, then you can move to another team within the organization or quit, etc.
At the same time, being in the office, you do not fall out of context, it is easier for you to ask something or clarify with your colleagues at work, and this by itself creates a natural environment for growth.

How does this work for a remote worker?
It seems to me that working remotely is much more difficult to grow, especially in soft skills.
In this case, a person seems to be isolated from this very aforementioned natural environment, and it seems to me that this can be compared with learning English at home via Skype or real communication with a native speaker while in the states, for example.

I would appreciate your comments as I am about to make the choice to move to a remote position and the very questions above are very confusing to me.

Are you an introvert or an extrovert?
Personally, I'm an introvert. The transition was quite easy a year ago, and now communication just for the sake of communication is only annoying, although it used to be the other way around.
When all the same pulls to "talk", I prefer to meet live. Through messengers somehow everything is not so and not that.
Professional development - pet projects, as well as participation in several from Github. In the same place, I found acquaintances with whom I can sometimes discuss something online, a mini group gathered in a cart.

professionally - offline -> meetups. sometimes conferences. on-line -> blogs, forums, etc. - English-language, domestic blog environment Already, less professional and much more toxic (easier - compatriots love to shit in comments). Books are also good to read. Monographs. IMHO what to read monographs - it is necessary, they are very cool in organizing and sorting out the knowledge that you pulled from various articles, blogs and other online.
live communication with people - I'm dancing here. kizomba. there is a stormy life, so much communication that .... in short, enough, more than. great with friends, the sea. Friends in the company of kite surfers, every person is a remote programmer / freelancer.
