When you import an optimized mesh into unity, does the old, unoptimized one still remain?

There is an obj, I decided to optimize it, removed the extra triangles and vertices, when importing into unity, the new obj still has an unoptimized mesh. I also tried to import fbx, nothing changes, although everything is fine in maya

Add your obj to the new project.
If not optimized, then such an obj.
If optimized - the problem is in the project / Unity.

Maybe I forgot to raise the optimization flags in the mesh settings?
