When to use route & socket.io in riot.js?

Good day. There is a cool thing: riot.js .
So, as I understand it, using the router , you can make "requests" to the API.
It turns out that sockets are no longer needed? Can these routes be used? I feel like I'm missing something.
How is data exchanged between riot.js and the server?

Everyone misunderstood. Routes have nothing to do with requests at all. They are about getting the state from the url, the same is true in angular or, for example, in backbone
