When is it not necessary to publish sources under the LGPL?

There is a question about using the library under the LGPL license, to be more precise it is wxWidgets. But it makes no sense to open the source codes, or rather, it is even unsafe, therefore their publication is excluded, but is there a way without violating the license and not disclosing the source code of the application?
