When connecting a computer to a router with a 20-meter cable, mysticism turns out?

A strange thing happened to me that year. I had an old computer and a laptop. It is clear that the laptop was connected to the router via wi-fi, and the computer via a standard cable from the router kit. The computer stood near the window with a telephone socket. I needed to move my computer to another room. I figured out the distance - 20 meters. I went to the store, I was crimped 20 meters of lan cable. I come home, I move the computer to another room, I plug the cable into the router and into the network card. The computer was running Windows XP. I look at the icon near the clock, there is a connection, browsers do not go to the Internet, at first the page loads for a long time, then an error appears (sorry I don’t remember which one). I reboot - again the same thing. I go into the properties of the network card or something like that, all the default settings. Go to connection properties I watch packets are transmitted in both directions. And I accidentally pay attention to the ip of my computer, replace 192.168.1.x there is some kind of left ip. I go to the Internet from my laptop, I see this ip belongs to an American provider! I transfer the laptop, turn off wi-fi and connect via cable - everything is ok! I connect the computer and again the same story. Then I transfer the computer to the old place, connect it with this very cable (the cable was in a lump :)) and the computer normally goes online. But then I changed my mind again to transfer the computer. Today I remembered this funny story. What could it be?) I connect the computer and again the same story. @RicoX

Either the cable is shit or hands from the ass, the contact disappeared somewhere periodically when they dragged all this and the computer received IP through zeroconf auto-assignment or whatever it is called in ancient Windows, no mysticism, the usual worthless contact.

Most likely, your cable is crimped by a crossover (to connect a computer to a computer without a switch / router).
Go to this sharazhkin office and ask them to compress it like a patch cord, and not like an ancient, forgotten entity.
