1. Disable autorun on removable drives
2. Use an antivirus with the latest virus database updates.
3. (last option) Boot from a Live USB flash drive (Linux / Win and check with antivirus)

Put Windows on a virtual machine and open
Viruses on the main system will not climb over in any way. Then, if anything, just erase the image of the virtual machine and that's it.

1. Would open it in Linux.
In Windows
2. I would configure security policies to run only from local media.
3. I would disable autorun from removable media, completely.
4. Before entering the flash drive, I would launch a batch file

@echo off
color A
set /p usb=Введите букву флешки (A-Z):
@echo on
cd /d %usb%:
attrib -S -H /D /S
dir
del autorun.*
del *.lnk
mkdir "autorun.inf\name..\"
attrib +s +h autorun.inf
attrib +s +h "System Volume Information"
pause

5. I would open the USB flash drive using Total Commander and similar file managers (Double Commander / Far), but by no means with Windows Explorer.

A virus on a flash drive does not start by itself, only through autorun.info!
And it is processed by Explorer, it is enough to complete explorer.exe, then connect the USB flash drive and open it in some other way, for example, through the "save as" dialogs.

Of course, I would give it to the enemy. Best enemy with Linux.
