What will be the resolution on the TV screen?

I have a laptop with a resolution of 1366x768 and a TV with a resolution of 1920x1080. If you connect a laptop to a TV via HDMI, will the resolution remain 1366x768 and the image will be distorted, or will it be possible to set the resolution to 1920x1080?

When you connect any external monitor / TV / projector, you can select several operating modes on a laptop. Duplication - the same picture on both screens, while the image will be taken from the laptop. Extension - you will have two monitors on which you can separately adjust the resolutions (and if the video card pulls full hd, then everything will be good on TV). And still like some.

Depends on the capabilities of the video card and the TV, many TVs via hdmi have a lower resolution than via d-sub.
