What will be the difference when connecting a monitor via HDMI or VGA?

I bought a TV as a large monitor.
It has an HDMI and VGA port. What can be the difference when connected in one way or another? And if it will be on the RSL connection, or some other firewall, or DVI? What will fundamentally change?

VGA is an analog signal. Dinosaur and on a modern TV / monitor you will not get a high-quality picture. Quality, cable length, output quality, and distance from computer to TV can all have an effect on video quality.
DVI, HDMI, DP, etc - digital signal. HDMI, DP support audio transmission.
Use digital if possible.

I met TVs that cut the edge of the picture along the contour when connected via HDMI. Let's say they don't see the tray icons on the bottom right. So it's not a fact that buying a TV without checking in the store before buying as a monitor is the right idea. When connecting, be prepared for such a surprise.
A "correct" TV is better to connect via HDMI.
