What to take amd vs intel?

Which stone is now better to take in terms of price / average performance.
With a bias towards m-atx motherboards, i.e. smaller size and less energy consumption, but to pull games at medium settings.
I also read articles that Intel has become completely crappy in terms of security
(Intel has confirmed rumors that its chips are vulnerable to hacking. Vulnerabilities affect sixth, seventh and eighth generation Core processors, as well as Pentium, Celeron, Atom chips and many Xeon processors.)
How is AMD in this regard?
