What to study after the basics of Java?
Good time of the day!
Decided to become a Java programmer and find a job. Studied the basics of the language (including Threads, Swing, I/O). The language is easy enough to understand, and most importantly, it is a pleasure to write in it. But as it turned out, one interest is not enough to study, you must at least know where to move on.
Questions:
1) Is my knowledge enough to become a Sun Certified Programmer (maybe it will help in finding a job)?
2) What to do now?
Thank you for your attention.

You can evaluate whether you can pass the OCJP test here - scjptest.com . I don’t think it makes sense to take it in view of the soon release of Java SE 8, where a lot of interesting things will be added, but it’s quite useful to find out if you can pass the test now.
1. The "Sun Certified Programmer" certification no longer exists. The first step is now "Oracle Certified Associate, Java SE 7 Programmer". What you need to know to successfully pass the exam can be found, for example, here and here .
2. For practice. Theory without practice is useless.
