What to read? To solder devices for yourself, for home automation, on microcontrollers and relays?

Hello. I'm new to this business. There is an idea for parents in the country, to make irrigation automatic, by the hour or by soil moisture and temperature. Also ventilation of the greenhouse. Just like a hobby, I want to play myself. What to read to "enter the topic" from scratch?

Looking from what "from scratch". What you wrote can be done on an arduino, and on something smarter (raspberry), and on something lower-level (MK type atmega - but in fact it will be the same arduin), and generally on simple logic.
I would advise you to take a set with an arduino, play around with it, and then dive "into the topic" on the issues that have arisen, and that's all

Basics of radio engineering to distinguish a capacitor from a resistor and understand which side to hold the soldering iron (do not be offended if you already know how).
And then - the same Habr, there are many interesting and detailed articles in the DIY section just about what interests you, with a very detailed analysis and advice. There are a lot of smart ideas in the comments too.
As mentioned above, it’s worth starting with an arduino, very sensible instructions are attached to it.

Two books with a good bias in practice:
Charles Platt - Electronics for Beginners
Charles Platt - Electronics. Logic circuits ...
And a theory accessible to beginners:
Svoren R. A. - Electronics step by step

If you are friends with English. language, there is a wonderful channel on Youtube by user Ben Eater ( his website , his channel ).
He explains everything so clearly and to the point, at the same time both theory and practice, moreover, using specific examples, that after viewing it is already itching to pick up a prototyping board or a soldering iron.
I don't know, maybe it's worth looking for translations.

Watching a few videos on YouTube is enough to bungle up a simple automation for watering a greenhouse.

Everything has been thought of before us. And quite well.

Perhaps you do not realize that there is an external control of devices without microcontrollers, soldering and relays.
This is a fundamentally different approach to the creation of robotics, automation and smart systems. At the same time, not every community has a healthy reaction to this. They are called platforms - killers of coder specialists. Personally, I don’t think so, nevertheless, for a number of reasons, some censors do not let these topics go, as well as the way it happens with a dentist who is happy to insert teeth into unfortunate patients.
Alas, the Habr policy does not allow the publication of those links that, in their opinion, violate something "not right."
So write in a personal.

I think the circuitry on the NE555 will be very useful to you, since the timers perfectly solve the tasks of automation, 60be0a494492b710810071.jpeg
what to read. If you already know how to read circuits, then you just need to familiarize yourself with their circuit diagrams, if not, then 60be0ab7c8dbe641702166.jpeg
hmm ...... it will be necessary to write a book on electronics for children,
otherwise I looked at this and realized that there are no normal books on electronics either, here it is heresy yes? 40 pages of crap and water)) I
generally recommend looking for old magazines for something like a young technician .....
It's not scary that they are old, the basics of the ladies are given well and clearly
There are interesting examples on YouTube
