Path in microelectronics, is it possible to achieve success?

In general, recently I began to get involved in microelectronics. There are several questions:
1. Is the profession of electronics engineer in demand now?
2. Is programming easier/demanding?
3. Is it possible to create something serious on your own? (for example, your own TV set)
Is it worth going into this topic in all seriousness, or should I continue to program and not go into it?

About the demand - see above. As for easier - everything is subjective and incomparable

Not professions are in demand, but professionals
Lighter / demand on the sofa near the TV
Everything serious is created (creative) alone, done collectively
