What to do if the processor frequency drops?
Hello, friends. I need your help.
During load, the processor constantly resets the frequency, which is why the FPS in games sags insanely. I used to think that this was due to overheating, because the temperature was 70-80 degrees, but now I bought a new cooler, and the frequency continues to drop even at 50 degrees. What could be the problem? Is there any way to disable throttling? I've looked all over the internet, but haven't found a solution.
My specifications:
Processor - Phenom II X4 965
Cooler - Deepcool GAMMAX 400
Video card - GeForce® GTX 650
Motherboard - Asus M4A78

This is not throttling, this is an Intel feature, AMD has C&Q.
Try to enable, disable, switch Cool'n'Quiet (in BIOS or utility).
I would say that this is still throttling. Relevant for laptops when using 1 cooler per discrete card and processor.
To solve exactly the same problem, I use the ThrottleStop version 6 program on my laptop (it doesn’t work for me), forcing the frequency to 2100 instead of 2500 if the temperature reaches 90 degrees. This is enough for me, and the method is definitely better than the standard frequency drawdown to 750 during "overheating".
