What to do if a lot of pages got into indexing in a certain period?
There is a site on wordpress and I decided to experiment with SEO.
changed the schema markup from Article to ImageObject, opened tags for the index (/tag/), adjusted the title and description in order to avoid duplicates. After that, in one or two days, a lot of pages got into indexing, the site lost its position in the search.
The crux of the matter is what to do now? close the tags or leave it as it is, will everything normalize with time?

Closing will definitely not give anything good (of course there is a but, but according to such data it is difficult to advise). A lot of pages have disappeared from the index - this is also bad.
The question is that you may have drawn the wrong conclusion. Not the fact that the fall is associated with the appearance of a large number of pages. There are a bunch of other options. For example update PS. Or the quality of the pages that appear, and there may be an option to hide them, but this is only in this scenario. There are also less likely indirect scenarios.
Based on the miserly information that you gave - I would advise you to contact a specialist. This might be bad advice. We need to understand in more detail.
It is likely that this was influenced by a change in micromarking. Show the page where they changed? What is the theme of the site?
