What to choose to start in the world of IT technologies?

Good afternoon. In short, I decided to go into software testing, and I want to take the first step from studying the Basics (computer science, logic, and the required level of mathematics) into general computer science. I can’t choose which is better, for starters:

Almost everyone knows Petzold's book, and it is very often advised. And about Simonovich, for example, I hear for the first time. I'm probably not unique in this.
