What technology should be used to make many webcams take pictures at the same time?

Good afternoon. There is a task - to make 120 web cameras take pictures at the same time. I'm going to start with 12 cameras, so as not to throw away money. But it is not clear to me how to connect such a number of cameras and to what? Apparently you need some kind of controller between the PC and the cameras. Do not tell me any technology on this issue ??
So far, it only comes to mind to put Rasberi Pi in front of each camera, and connect it to a PC via ethernet.
