What technologies were used to write the Battle.net application?
Frameless windows, button animations, their positions, etc.

Скорее всего, использовался корпоративный GUI-фреймворк внутри компании Blizzard, который разрабатывался не за 2-3 месяца, а гораздо дольше с привлечением множества специалистов по дизайну, удобству и т.д.
