What tasks can be used to improve the skills of working with nix systems at home for a webmaster?
As a webmaster developing towards the front end and back end at home, I had to face the need to own a certain level of nix systems. Most often, the requirements for the candidate require knowledge of nix systems.
In this regard, the question arose - in what direction to develop this knowledge at home? I develop under OS Windows, because there is Photoshop and 1C. Nevertheless, there is a server with virtual machines at home, on which I put Linux Ubuntu, but I don’t know how to use it to pump knowledge. What can you advise?
Set up a web server or mail server on it, or what does the average webmaster need to know?

Set up a working environment for dev machines, for sales, write a program that will do this automatically (using tools like ansible or puppet), set up CI.

What can you advise? So start with vagrant, which will make working with virtual machines transparent.
Try installing Arch Linux, once you get the hang of it, you'll understand how the system works. Next, try to set up a web server with the components you need, let's say apache + php + mysql. Well, that's all.
Proper organization of dev and production
Docker, CI / CD, unit testing, git - all to lift and configure.
