What should be exported? Separate animation and character, or together?

I created a character, made an animation for it, in the video tutorials I saw different ways how to export it:
Option 1 - First a character with bones, then a character with bones and animation
Option 2 - Select and move everything at once.
The problem is that in both versions, my character is transferred in some pose made in the middle of the animation, I don’t know how to make it neutral. And the character is transferred without textures.
I transfer it like this: I select the
armature -> file -> export -> FBX -> check the apply transform checkbox.
Next, I get a file with a play icon, when transferring it to unity, the character is not in a neutral pose, but in an animation pose and without textures. How to make it with textures, in a neutral pose, and turn on animations from it?
