Place 192.168.0 and 192.168.1 in the same network segment, or, if there are vlans, configure routing between them on the router. Additional routes on end devices are not required.

Options:
1) Make sure that they are all on the same network. Or numbers to change, or masks.
2) Register routes on both devices:
On 192.168.8.1, register
route add 192.168.1.55 192.168.8.1
On 192.168.8.1 - similarly.
The recording format depends on the operating system. Sometimes it is necessary to specify not the IP address, but the interface name.
