What questions to ask the customer for the redesign of the online store?

We were asked to redesign the online store. The store is not very big, about 10 categories of goods. This is the first time I’ve come across an online store, before I only made landing pages and received detailed technical specifications, so now there are some difficulties in communicating with the customer. What questions should be asked to the customer for effective work and how to correctly formulate them? I'd be happy if someone could help me with this

Well, you're kind of an expert. What do you need to know about this project? What is not clear and not known specifically to you? What exactly do you need to know to get the job done? That's what you ask the client . If you don’t even know what to ask, refuse and return when you gain knowledge.
Well, I or someone else will now write a list of questions, well, you will learn them from the client, but can you apply this information in your work if you don’t know what it is for? There will be zero point. Learn and gain knowledge, because the right questions (as well as the approach to work) are different for everyone.
updI have seen more than once how people take other people's brief / TOR samples and let the client fill them out, and then they still do what they want, without even reading (or not understanding) the specified information. This is partly because half of the questions are really useless information and have migrated from the templates of the 90s and 00s.
Therefore, study interface design (general principles, usability, etc.). This is what is important in an online store. See what others have done and highlight good solutions.
By the way, the number of product categories is generally useless information when it comes to the design of an online store :) The main thing, the list of products, the filter, the product page and the checkout process are important here.
The designer does not rivet layouts, the designer solves the problem of the client.
Just ask the client. And then you, as a specialist, must make a decision - in what ways to solve the tasks in order to achieve the necessary goals .

Book an interview for which you will be present. You will lose part of the profit, but you will gain the necessary experience.
