What OS to put on the webserver?
Hello.
I understand that how many people have so many opinions, but ... What OS (assembly) to put on the web server?
As a starting point, we will assume that the experience is 0, in any OS (even in Windows :) )
So which OS is better to take the time to learn?
Criteria: fault tolerance, simplicity.

There are classic answers:
1. The one you know best.
2. The one that your guru knows best.
3. The one that was told by the person you pay for administration.
In your case, nothing is suitable, so just take the most common distribution kit and put it in the VIRTUAL.
This is Ubuntu.
I recommend version 14.04, because. 14.10 is another "test" version before 16.04.
Debian ( configuration )
And that's why not Ubuntu and the others...
the choice is not great
in production today, in the trend, the latest windows server, centos or redhat and ubuntu.
Ubuntu (Server), if only by virtue of the fact that it is the most common, and the solution to almost any problem can be googled.
Based
fault tolerance, simplicity, as well as
in any OS experience 0(special attention to the last point) - I recommend Ubuntu. And for a dozen other reasons, including my lack of experience with servers on other Linux systems, which gives rise to some kind of bias. But I worked with a web server on Windows and I can tell you for sure: Windows is not for this.
