What modern browser can be used to make Opera v12?
I can't force myself to "get off" with the twelfth opera, too many things in it are incomparably more convenient than in other browsers. But every day new sites work worse, more and more brakes, in the end you have to give it up. Some sites still have to be opened in chrome and so on in order to work with them at least somehow, and this happens more and more often.
Maybe in new browsers there are all sorts of add-ons and plugins that will add the functionality I need? I did not have a positive experience of changing the browser, everything I tried was inconvenient and I returned very quickly, but maybe someone had more patience than me? Who can share experience?
What keeps me going in the first place. First in importance:
- The ability to remake all shortcuts to the ones I need, and delete unnecessary ones. For example, to open a new tab by Ctrl/Cmd+N, everywhere by default it opens a new window and not everywhere it can be changed.
- Mouse gestures. So that you can easily reassign as shortcuts and remove unnecessary ones.
- Highlight text in the middle of a link. Search results often give me the qualifying words I need as a link, extracting a couple of words from the link and "paste-n-go" is extremely convenient. The same is true in the headings of articles on websites - they are often links to themselves, and only the opera allows you to select the right thing from the headline to put it in the search engine.
- Opening tabs by links from the current page after the active one. For example, open dozens of tabs from a news page by heading, so that they line up right behind the original one. And then when you move to these open tabs, so that after closing the next one, you move to the next one from this series. And not to the original one, or worse, to the very last one in the entire general list.
- Navigate through tabs. I would like it to yield to the same logic as switching between programs in the operating system. Quick Ctrl-Tab switched between the last two, consecutive Ctrl-Tab - moving through the entire list.
Second in importance:
- One-key shortcuts. For example, moving through the list of tabs back and forth using the "1" and "2" keys.
- Ability to bring some settings to the panel. For example, I always have three checkboxes: "Enable animation", "Enable plugins", "Enable JS", only the first one is always on, it's very convenient, the pages are not clogged with flashing avatars, etc.
- Changing the scale of the page without combined shortcuts as in Photoshop, but with simple "+" and "-" buttons.
- Ability to set the default scale for all opened pages, both for new ones and for those opened from the current one.
- Automatic recovery of all open tabs, without any questions.
- Quick restoration of closed tabs by Ctrl-Z, in the same place where they were closed, and not in the place of the current one, convenient access to the "Recycle Bin" of closed tabs.
- When moving forward / backward on the page, so that the position at which it was opened would be saved, and not automatic stupid movement only to the very top of the page, after which you swear trying to find where you were, because pages with long articles and a lot of comments may require a very long scrolling
The list is endless...
I perfectly understand that I ask a lot, and I hate the developers of the opera, who killed all this in the new version of the next chromoclon, but I hope that at least some of the most important things can be screwed in the form plugins and deep editing of configs. Interested in all platforms, Windows, Linux and Macos.

So, a report on the results of operative substitution.
- changing all shortcuts: Customizable Shortcuts extension
- mouse gestures: FireGestures
- highlighting text in a link: cursor with
alt - shortcut for paste-n-go: Paste and Go Hotkey (Keyboard Shortcut)
only the shortcut is not reconfigured
- behavior of tabs as in opera, that is, opening, switching, restoring closed ones, etc.: Tab Mix Plus
- tab groups: Multiple Tab Handler
- one-button shortcuts 1 and 2: Single Key Tab Switch
for normal operation, you need to disable the setting "Search for text on the page as you type it"
- enable - turn off GIF animation: Toggle animated GIFs
only there are no buttons on the panel, there is an unchangeable shortcut
- advanced text and page scale control: Default Full Zoom Level
buttons can be moved to the panel
That is, everything that I remembered offhand and wanted - everything worked more or less like in the old opera. Plus, fox is much faster and does not bug on new sites.
A few more plugins that I installed: All-in-One Sidebar - a toolbar on the right, like in an opera, Extended Statusbar - a pop-up bar with download progress, Adblock Plus - does not need advertising, Ghostery and HTTPS-Everywhere. Essno list will be replenished, but it's already fun for everyone to enjoy.
What I haven't been able to find yet: the ability to bring settings switches to the panel: js, gif animations and plugins; textarea stretching in response forms, etc.
Maybe someone will tell?
