Mobile Internet
Komonec, 2011-04-08 13:44:02

What mobile Internet is the most relevant in Moscow and Moscow region now?

The essence of the matter is as follows - acquaintances now use a skylink (usb modem for a laptop), which was bought even before the appearance of unlimited tariffs for the Internet from the main operators and Yota. Now they need Skype, I don’t know what tariff they have on the scaling, but I feel they are taking money from them, because. The tariff is certainly more than 2 years old. Tell me, please, which mobile Internet is most relevant right now for Skype with video calls for Moscow and the region (40 km from the Moscow Ring Road)?
I looked at the new tariffs for scaling, this is basically the same as for MTS, Beeline and Megafon, but more expensive. Therefore, now I am leaning towards MTSU for the Connect kit, where they have the “Unlimited-Super” tariff + the promotion “1350 rubles / month. (when buying a kit - 675 rubles / month until the end of 2011) ”, and the limitation of 1GB per day will not interfere with them.
Plus a couple of questions arose:
1. How is Yota doing in Moscow now? (A friend had / has, heard not the most flattering reviews)
2. How are things with 3g coverage for a troika in the Moscow region?
3. Will gprs pull a call from Skype (a video call will probably not pull)?
Thanks in advance.

Don't get fooled by MTS promotions!
Recently, a promotion was held - “Unlimited for 2 rubles”, so it ended and this unlimited turned into “Unlimited for 10 rubles”.

It really all depends on the place. Somewhere one operator is good, somewhere else. I would advise MegaFon, there are a variety of Internet options that can be connected to any tariff .
Skype also works great over 3G.
In general, I advise you to read the profile forum .

Skylink is expensive, but it is stable, working out its speed. Been sitting on it all summer.
If you take it, then immediately unlimited.

I use Unlimited Internet Traffic (BIT) from MTS for 199 rubles.
I use it constantly on my phone, sometimes I use my phone as an access point - download habr and other non-heavy sites when there is no free Wi-Fi point nearby, for example, on boring couples.

I use beeline, unlimited for 390, but there is a limit of 1 GB per month, now they have a free option, more than 5 MB per day for free, called "carefree Internet", but there is also a 1 GB limit. As for video calls on Skype, it depends on the coverage, I have 3G and I use video calls from my phone, now I measured the speed: ping 141ms, 1529kb / s download, 1166kb / s upload.
Let your friends measure the speed and check the availability of 3G from phones, and then think about buying a modem and choosing a tariff.

How many I tried to communicate on Skype through 3g, there was never a normal connection, I think we need to look in the direction of the eta.

3g coverage is growing, but the meaning of 3g itself does not appear, that is, of course, there will be an icon on the phone, but the speeds are not much different from edge, it’s not worth talking about letensi at all, that is, what kind of video is there, chances are that on the current 3g (especially on unlimited, where speeds are cut) you can talk on Skype while closer to zero than to one.
I'm all about the fact that skylink does not take money from scratch, on the experience of their speed is higher and the quality is better.
yo, I don't know.

It may be that the most optimal solution would be to connect to a local network in Moscow, I think it’s unlit somewhere for 400 rubles + to take a modem with unlimited Internet for 300 rubles to the country house.

1. It is impossible to use Iota
2. MTS has 3g in the cities of the Moscow region. There are problems in transfers between cities. With an external antenna, the situation is improving and you can achieve a stable ping up to 400 ms servers - you can already chat, albeit with brakes. And so - I went to the Vladimir region, 3g appeared for the last time in Sergiev Posad, then after 10 minutes it completely fell off.
3. Pulls. But there are brakes.
I haven't tried Skylink, you can't rely on the rest. I carry an android with me (tethering from a beeline), mts connect modem, iota. And one hell even in the center of Moscow, I can be left without a network.

Most likely, MegaFon will have coverage anywhere in the Moscow region. With the smallest - Beeline.

I see the question you asked a long time ago, but still I want to answer because now the question is often asked. The first thing you need to do is to look at the coverage area in your region, and after choosing an operator, look at the rates. As for me, either Megafon or Iota will suit you, but most likely a megaphone with an XL tariff, everything about it is described in detail on the promobile . Megafon has almost all over Russia, so I think you will not have problems with communication.

It would be interesting to hear such a survey as of 2017. I think that they have not yet come up with alternatives to Yota, all the more so when they united with a megaphone, in general they have no competitors.
I, for example, use it in the office. 14 computers work from the Iota router, which in itself was a pleasant surprise, because. I didn’t think that one router could serve such a wide audience with Wi-Fi. I specifically asked what kind of model - Yota Ready VIVA. It gives traction at 250-270 mb / s, which is still unbelievable, because, for example, my fiber at home gives no more than 40 meters per second. I think that this is even a lot for the office, because This router also gives you the opportunity to access IP TV. I think this reduces the productivity of employees, and the authorities should block it somehow))).

For the Internet, I use the "LUX 2200" tariff from Beeline for only 84 rubles per day. Internet unlimited! I bought it here https://sim-trade.ru/tariff/beeline/ .
