What MB motivates the alkaline batteries only requirement?

On the back of the LG magic remote it says alkaline batteries only. What is it motivated by? Are you talking about the fact that you can not use saline batteries or is it fundamentally only alkaline and that's it? What about NiMH batteries?

Salt batteries have an unpleasant property to leak over time when fully discharged + they work much less time than alkaline ones. The latter still have a higher current output, but this does not matter in the remote control. That's all. You can use saline at your own risk. Lithium is also possible without problems. Batteries are also available.
