We take a sata cable, bite off one end and solder it with the connector of the old railway. We connect the cable and power to the hard drive, and only the connector made to the laptop is a profit! (Checked, I am writing from a laptop with such a connected hard drive :)).

Regarding the key, the assignment of the contacts is the same.
In the cable itself, the wires from the contacts for data transmission on one side go to the contacts for data reception on the other side and vice versa.
