What is the security issue with the winrar\winzip archiver?

I often see on sites, especially black topics, requests not to use winrar \ winzip for dearchiving. It is not safe. But no one writes why and what analogue can be used. Just write please do not use this particular archiver. Does anyone know what is the reason and what to go for? On 7zip some?

WinRAR is proprietary and closed source software, which is considered insecure in and of itself. WinZip seems to be the same, but I'm not sure.
7zip is just open source, that's why it is advised as safe, BUT the unRar library is closed there, so when you unpack RAR archives with 7zip, you still risk within your threat model, and if you use 7zip files, then everything becomes well :)
