Hello.
Web site development is moving forward. The beloved 960 px is already a thing of the past.
And I faced the question: What width should modern websites be made? I will be glad to councils, recommendations. because after reading a huge number of articles and did not come to a single conclusion.
ps Separately, I'm interested in recommendations for a large online store.
Thanks in advance for the answers and plus in karma.

You need to understand that the width of the site (namely, the content part) should not depend on the width of the user's monitor, but on the convenience of perception. Running eyes from one corner of the screen to another user is simply inconvenient. The optimal solution is the previous maximum 1200px for desktop, and adaptive to 320px.
I don’t know about others, but it depends on the type of site for me, it happens that I make a rubber adaptive, but for example, for shops I do (adaptable for all resolutions) the maximum width for the screen:
Based on the devices with which display people visit your site. I have this layout:
1280px - 28% of visitors
360, 1366, 1600px - 12%
each 1400 and 480px - 8% each
The remaining 20% is about 5 different displays
I think that your layout is similar
960 is still relevant today because of tablets. Sites with this width look great without adaptation on t[f]tablets.
Either 1200 + 960 + 320
