What is the QA entry threshold?

What is the entry threshold for a tester now?
a good friend graduated from some courses and asks me for advice on how to move forward
from what he knows how to write test cases and check UI / UX with their hands and write
any programs to the bugtracker he doesn’t know
automation they taught, but everything is sad there, in the sense that he simply does not understand cycles, conditional statements, etc. I gave him the corresponding literature, video, explained a little, but he simply writes a set of operators, rewriting their source, you can say one to one. I don’t even know what to advise him, to say that he won’t pull automation, the language doesn’t turn around and is somehow uncomfortable, but how can I help a person who cannot understand cycles?

With the ability to write test cases and manually check UI / UX and write to the bugtracker, can you now find a job?

If we talk about hard-skills, the entry threshold is not high. But the competition is huge. In order to somehow stand out from the background of other candidates, knowing only the theory is not enough. You need good knowledge of test design and minimal automation skills, at least be able to write API tests.

well, everywhere is different, of course, in normal - automation is needed

The entry threshold is approximately one arm and one eye, you can without legs

The entry threshold is the same as everywhere else. In one company, as they wrote "one arm and one eye, you can do without legs", in another you will be asked about automation tools and testing methodologies.
