What is the purpose of a fingerprint scanner?

I bought a phone with a fingerprint scanner (I didn’t buy it because of this, it’s just powerful), but the question is, why is it needed? That is, even the question is different, if you reset the phone (hard reset) will the fingerprint fly off? If so, then what is the point of all this if a person can just make a hard reset and get access to the phone? It turns out the protection is as weak as a pin code with a graph flogged.

It will get to the phone (if it does, it won't get it to the iphone, if I'm not mistaken), but it won't get to the data so easily.
Consider the fingerprint scanner as a replacement for entering a 4-digit password, because in any case, you should have a fallback unlock option - and this will be just the password.

The point is data protection.
1) You lost your phone. You have mail in it, a personal account of the bank, confidential information, pictures without panties. Without a finger and a password, he resets the bodies, but there is no data anymore.
2) Does your girlfriend / wife constantly climb the phone looking for compromising evidence? Are passwords constantly peeping over your shoulder? The fingerprint scanner will help you! Fingerprint scanner - and your f * yadi in order!
