What is the minimalist library for Canvas?

Googled a lot, but either too huge hundreds of kb, or abandoned for a very long time and, most importantly, without a clue what they are in real use.
All that is needed:
- events
- and hence a simple object model for shapes
- layers
The most popular types of fabric.js are very fat, bloated api compared to native.

Um... If fabric is oily for you, then in my opinion only native remains....
