What is the hdmi to vga adapter for Mac Mini?
I have a simple 17' monitor with VGA output only and a Mac mini with hdmi only.
Is it enough to take an adapter from hdmi to vga ?
I read similar topics on the forums and on the toaster, people complain about the terrible picture. Maybe the adapter is not enough? What would you recommend in this case?

It's not just a switch. Yes, it will be enough. The picture will be so-so (although with some update it was stated that the problem was fixed), but nothing can be done about it.
I myself use such an adapter (DisplayPort - VGA, and not the original one from the Apple Store, but I took it from my uncle, he orders them from China (in Chelyabinsk they sell 600 rubles). There are no problems with the picture. (I have two monitors, the main one with an IPS matrix, the second one is 21.5 inches).
The only problem I have encountered so far is the impossibility of setting the resolution to 1080p on the second monitor in OS X, it allows you to do only 1280 by 1024. (And everything is fine in BootCamp).
Be careful, a lot depends on mac mini , for example, there are a lot of complaints about versions before 2012. I have a mac mini late 2012.
They also say you can use a DisplayPort to DVI-D adapter. At the same time, use VGA-DVI on the monitor, but I didn’t try it myself, I just ran into a problem that my adapter was VGA-DVI-I, and they don’t physically fit into DVI-D
