What is the fundamental difference between the directions 09.04.01 and 09.04.03?

Good afternoon,
please explain in simple terms to a person not from the IT sphere (for now) the fundamental difference between the directions 09.03.01 (computer science and computer technology) and 09.03.04 (software engineering). Programmers appear in the description both there and there, but programmer is a general name covering many subspecialties. Which of the directions is the most comprehensive in terms of opportunities (options) for activities?
Thanks in advance.

It is necessary to look at the curriculum for both areas and compare - what is emphasized in each case.
Accordingly, since the output is the same name of the specialty, then you need to choose the curriculum that, in your opinion, is the most promising (interesting).

In my university, both of these areas were in 1 department and differed in 1 subject: digital signal processing (PI) and mathematical modeling (IMT).
