What is the dress code for programmers? How to dress for an interview?

In general, soon there will be a diploma. I'm slowly preparing myself for the interview and so on. But I don't know how to dress for an interview. If I come in what I usually wear (sneakers, black jeans, a T-shirt with merch, a mantle), then they will think that I am somehow not serious. In general, how to dress? And what do you usually wear and what color? Oh yeah, also: are there those who work and have tattoos? Still, in the post-Soviet space, the attitude towards tattoos is different. If you have tattoos, tell me if it bothers you?

Seriously, clean yourself up, remove the tunnels from your ears, earrings from your nose, etc. Those. become an ordinary person. Buy a new shirt, wash things. Generally look good. A long sleeve shirt will hide the tattoo. Pants or jeans are a must.
Meet by clothes, see off by mind.
If you look like a bum, a scumbag, or if you stink, then you will not be hired. They will take it only in one case - if you code like a god. But since you ask such a stupid question, then immediately there is doubt about your skills.

The main thing here is not the dress code, but accuracy. Much depends on the profile of the company. First of all - the smell of sweat, "funny T-shirts", tracksuits and a booger in the nose are best left at home. Trousers or classic jeans, shirts (not Hawaiian only). Everything is simple.

For an interview, it is important to wear a head. And the appearance should simply not offend others. You can dress as you like, but wearing only shorts or smelly clothes is clearly a failure.

In a sweater with deer and, preferably, a beard, they will accept

You don't think about it. You are going to settle not in a modeling agency, but in an office. Wear a tattoo, wear long hair - everyone cares. The most important thing is that you know how to perform the assigned tasks and that's it. And at the interview, be confident and speak strictly to the point. And whether you are serious or not, communication with a local team leader will show, and not how you are dressed.

I believe that if a person came to decide his fate and didn’t think to wash before that, it’s better to stay away from that person. No matter what kind of specialist he is, he has problems with his head and I don’t need such a miracle in the team.

Somehow I was interviewing in a normal office after drinking. I was wearing a black T-shirt inside out, shaggy hair, and a condom fell in front of my manager's wife, she also turned out to be a feminist sick in the head ... and how people like her are taken into normal companies. IMHO before hiring a normal employer / hr will not look at the clothes. You have to look at the head

Jeans, shirt, sneakers - no one kicked at the interviews, a couple of times right at the interview asked a question about the dress code, they said that everything was ok :)
No one paid attention to the beard and mustache, as well as their non-availability.

1. The main thing is to be yourself. If you came in what you think is right, but they didn’t take you because of your appearance, then this is not your place of work. Why pretend to be someone else for 5 days for 8 hours - in half a year you will howl and hate this place.
2. If you really need a job, then spend the social. engineering:) come a day (other time) to this office and see what people wear to work.
ps the main thing is to smile and not pick your nose.

in general, in IT companies, the dress code is free, i. it does not exist))) On the other hand, there are no rules without exceptions. Therefore, a young person (and a more experienced IT-person can not advise anything, head hunters will hunt for him) can be advised to dress for the first interview modestly and standardly: in summer jeans, a shirt (not a T-shirt!), summer shoes or even sneakers , if only not slippers and even on socks. In winter, the same thing, except to add a pullover and take darker boots. Longsleeve will be universal for winter and summer. Well, take jeans of a standard length so as not to sparkle with bare ankles. And then look at the situation (i.e. how other employees of the company dress). And if suddenly a strict dress code is adopted in the company, is this company worth your attention?
Well, as it was already correctly written here, an IT specialist can be dressed as you like, but no one has canceled the requirements for personal hygiene! Clean hair, brushed teeth and fresh underwear is a must for any employee in any field of activity.
However, the first acquaintance in the IT-sphere always takes place in absentia, in the form of a remote interview and sending your best practices and solving test tasks. So in the created correspondence, you can always ask about the rules adopted in the company.
