What is the difference between H240 and B140i?

How is the HPE H240 12Gb 2-ports Int Smart Host Bus Adapter HBA different from the B140i controller? There is an adapter, there is also a controller. Couldn't understand the difference. Now works in raid 1, on the controller. Do I need to change to H240 and will I need to reinstall the OS at the same time? It is clear that it cannot be compared with a normal hardware raid, but I would like to choose the most optimal / reliable option from the 2 above.
