What is the difference between GPT, DOS, SGI and SUN disk labels?

You need to mount a 1 TB disk in debian. As far as I understand, GPT is used for disks larger than 2 TB.
Which label is better to choose for a disk on linux?

The GPT partition table is the most modern, allows partitioning up to petabytes, DOS is 32-bit and does not allow addressing disk space more than 2TB, i.e. Anything over this number will be unallocated.
I recommend GPT, even modern Windows supports it.

When I bought the last 4 terabyte drive, I didn't partition at all.
Just created a file system on /dev/sdb.
There were no questions about more than 2 terabytes.
