What is the difference between DIG, host and nslookup?

Hey!
I want to know the difference utilities. What is more convenient to use?
As I understand it, the difference is only in the output of the result (or not?)
At work, everyone used DIG, but no one explained why it is cooler

There are no fundamental differences between dig and nslookup. What is convenient and familiar, so they use it.
Of these three, it is important to highlight the host utility, which works directly with DNS, unlike dig and nslookup, which look at /etc/hosts.

host and nslookup return exit 1 if something doesn't resolve, unlike dig (it always returns exit 0). sometimes it helps to get rid of a couple of unnecessary lines in all sorts of scripts

Cooler is a purely individual concept.
