What is the configuration (hardware) of the server under 1C for five users?
They gave me a task that I had never done before. It so happened that in our patrimony I am the only one who knows how to turn on the computer. There is also an accountant (1C, Windows), but he stupidly does not turn it off.
So, we have a second bill, followed by a third (no more than four) and another procurement specialist. Accounting moves from the local computer to the workstations plus the server.
Select a server, set it up, and everything I need for full-fledged work fell out to me.
Looking ahead, I’ll say right away that a third-party person will be involved in installing and configuring 1C. Who he is, how he will do it (locally or remotely), what his preferences are - no one knows yet. And I'm afraid that will be known at the very last moment. Don't ask me why - I'm already in a state of self-isolation passion. But the server and jobs should be ready yesterday.
About my qualifications. Confident Linux user (not advanced), slightly less confident Windows. I loudly call myself a system administrator, but, of course, I am not one. But with all the questions that arose along the way, while I coped on my own - by googling, through forums, on my own. I understand what I'm doing when I copy someone's solution to a question.
So, on the server.
The budget is about 80,000 rubles (hardware) so far there is no talk of licenses. I'm worried the boss is going to kill himself. Theoretically, I hope that you can get by with Linux. Don't upset me right away.
3 users with the prospect of expanding to 5. Users on Win10. Machines i5-16GB
I don’t even know what other inputs are needed in order to understand what server configuration for hardware and additional. equipment will be needed.
I really hope for your understanding and help.

antonwx Server 1c with connection from client machines.
antonwxDo I need a raid? Don't know. You're writing about raid 0. Is it to improve performance? So I immediately had a new question about reliability, backups and their organization
. So, what I understand.
Ordinary iron + reliable hards. Ryzen 3900 How much memory?
For a file database, it doesn't matter what OS. And what restrictions await me in this case?

It's funny to see Ryzen 7/9 recommendations for 5 users when Ryzen 5 pulls 40+ users.
As for server hardware, its advantages will manifest themselves with a hundred users and / or when you have at least five servers (the numbers are conditional, of course). But you will experience the shortcomings of server hardware immediately (as an admin). So with your scale, self-assembly on a PC hardware is just what the doctor ordered.
From my own experience, the file bases Booh2.0, Booh3.0 fly excellently on the i3-4130
So I didn’t understand, will you have terminal sessions or just a server with 1c and a connection from client machines?
In any case, the assembly on desktop hardware is most likely suitable for you, because the server one will not fit into the price. Ryzen 3900 and ecc more memory and raid 1 of two solid ssds. It's unlikely you'll need things like a second hot-swap power supply or hot-swappable hard drives.
With software it is better not to save. If a terminal server, 100% take a server Windows, if a regular server, you can limit yourself to a firmware.
If you go to 1cfresh, save on hardware, licenses, both terminal and 1c, and you won’t have to google cascading questions.
no ryzens! you need intel with performance per core. even i3 would be better here. you will not have any load. what intel 9600 (or even 9100) and ssd, and no need for raids, but just ssd + hard for backups. and your base will fly into space. and 16 memory is enough. server is not needed
- A gaming desktop on a ryzen or Core i7 with normal disks in 80tyr will not fit through.
- a used server is a good option, but it will be noisy. you need to find out where it will be located, if all users and the server are in the same open space, it’s better not to. even the desktop will need to be licked by noise.
- fresh is a good idea, but only if the conf is completely typical
. In general, like all previous speakers, I think that there is not enough data. A 1C specialist is unlikely to help in choosing hardware, they are usually stupid in this aspect. But with him you need to clearly find out all the parameters of the functioning of the base, including its estimated initial volume and monthly growth.
And finally - as a disk for the base, if not fresh, it doesn’t matter if it’s a file version or SQL - we take an SSD M2 Samsung Pro or an analogue, either in a mother or in a PCI-E adapter for 500r, no raid, and configure backups very carefully.
Take a regular i5 computer with a processor and RAM, well, 16 gigs with a margin of one bar (then buy another bar if that), better SSD (even necessarily!) + Screw. Put a terminal there and let people work there. Make backup copies of cobian backup on the screw and copy to any other computer, even on the computer of the heads of boo, the main thing is that it was included during copying.
If without a license, then apparently the terminal is on Linux .. But it’s more difficult to set up there, as I understand it.
--- I'll tell you my experience in my youth. Everything developed in much the same way.
(1) The base (file) lay stupidly at the main account on the computer and everyone clung to it over the network. Network 100. It slowed down, but it was enough for 3 people. Comp Ch. boom too. At first, it worked for 3 years.
(2) On a normal computer with an i3 processor, the terminal and Active Directory are up. It was not convenient. Windows was 2003, crashed. Active Directory was covered, restored from a copy of Acronis. Another STANDARD port 3389 RDP was opened outside, someone hacked and encrypted the entire server .. Everything was restored from copies that were on another computer.
(3) Bought 2 more regular PCs with i3 processor. Windows 2008 is installed everywhere.
1. terminal - where all people go and work in 1s. File storage, backup copies on a separate screw.
2. Domain - Active Directory - but it is NOT necessary to have it! The copies from the terminal are also copied here to a separate screw.
3. Reserve domain!! Copies from the terminal are also copied here. It is generally better to put it in another room, in case of a fire it can save.
-Also copies are copied to domains via DFS. double copy is shorter.
-Remotely (from the Internet from another city), users access RDP on a NOT standard port, for example 11556. They also go to the Reserve domain and there they already launch 1c or RDP on the terminal itself. (in principle, there is only 1 person working there).
-------------
7 years already working, I have not worked there for a long time, but not so long ago I went. Backups are copied correctly. But it seems that one domain has fallen off, there is a second one :)
----------------
When you make a network, take a normal cable, forget about the cheapest one, maybe even copper is better. It is desirable to have a switch / router that is more interesting and not Dlink. Well, gigabit has never been superfluous.
Good luck!
BU server, 4 hard drives in raid 10. Enough money.
Well, then as you wish.
