What is the choice of distribution for a beginner between elemetary os and linux mint?
The topic of choosing the first distribution is already hackneyed, but as another noob, I would like to ask experienced users for advice: which of these two distributions to choose for a beginner, or can you advise some other distribution, with the prospect of switching to more complex versions, i.e. e. where you have to use windows less, I will be grateful for advice / answers

tl;dr: Ubuntu 14.04.3 LTS Server (64-bit)
elemetary os - this is some kind of Babushkin's craft, you don't even need to touch it with a ten-meter stick.
Mint is an add-on for Ubuntu LTS, IMHO meaningless (the difference is in the initial GUI setup).
So I will just advise Ubuntu LTS (do not touch anything that is not marked with the word LTS, these are test versions).
In addition, I advise you to immediately install the server version of Linux for study, without a graphical interface, so that nothing extra is distracting, and besides, you will not have to look for compatibility with hardware.
Ubuntu LTS (you can use its "descendants" xubuntu, linux mint, kubuntu) because the most popular = the largest number of different topics on it. For a beginner, it's generally the most "chic".
Debain - almost the same only "older", also lightweight + many themes + stable.
My choice is for Ubuntu and its "descendants", and then you can install Debain (although these distros are related to each other).
as for me: mint with its fork of the 2nd gnome remains the most usable for the desktop
ps: why go somewhere later on to something where there is no GUI is unclear, inside they are all the same, open the terminal and go ahead?
