What is the bug with installing epel-release-6-8.noarch?

Good day everyone!
I noticed a strange bug after installing the epel-release-6-8.noarch package on CentOS 6
Once this package is installed, all further attempts to execute yum to update or install any package result in this message: Illegal instruction
After removing this package, the bug goes away, this was not noticed before and the package was successfully used.
Has anyone had this and how is it solved without resorting to removing this package?
